As part of the Ghana Medical Oxygen Project, supported by USAID/RISE/JHPIEGO, a delegation from the Ghana Health Service and Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, undertook a comprehensive factory tour and equipment inspection in Europe.

The Ghana Health Service delegation included Dr. Ebo Hammond, Director of Health Administration & Support Services, and Dr. Nicodemus Kafui Kebe, Deputy Director of Clinical Engineering. Representing Jhpiego was Dr. Paa Kobina Forson, Technical Director for Jhpiego Ghana.

The visit was led by Dr. Daniel Kotei, who served as the Project Lead for the Ghana Medical Liquid Oxygen Project. Dr. Kotei coordinated the delegation’s engagements, ensuring seamless collaboration between the technical partners and project stakeholders.

During the tour, Cryonorm BV in the Netherlands—renowned specialists in Ambient Vaporizers and Change-Over Units—hosted the delegation and provided an in-depth presentation on their global operations and technology.

The team then visited Auguste Cryogenics in Slovakia for a detailed factory tour and demonstration of the cryogenic tanks. The delegation conducted a thorough inspection of the equipment and expressed full satisfaction with the exceptional quality and manufacturing standards observed. Dr. Kotei’s leadership throughout this process has been instrumental in advancing Ghana’s goal of establishing a robust and reliable medical oxygen infrastructure that meets international standards.
